A Start...

Just a quick one to get this going....

I have been wanting consistently blog for years now but it didn't seem like my life was nearly interesting enough to keep it up. I've got to say though, that in the last year our lives have changed drastically! I'm just giving the quickie version right now but I will be sure to elaberate on these experiences when I feel like story telling.

Back in February Josh and I left our life, friends and home in England. We spent close to two months in Idaho visiting with our own families (I hadn't seen mine in over 2 years!) and introducing each other to the new in-laws. We planned every detail of our wedding and we finally married on March 31st 2012. A few weeks later we drove our brand new 2012 Dodge Charger 21 hours straight to Oklahoma City. We had 10 days to get ourselves into a place of our own with a dwindling savings account as I searched for a job. Thankfully it only took me one week to get from writing an entire resume on my iPad (That was a nightmare!!) applying and interviewing for accounting/banking positions, and getting myself settled as a contractor for Chesapeake Energy in corporate accounting.

Only 1 month after arriving to Oklahoma, Josh's time to begin cross-training came along much too quickly. He spent 2 months at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Tx and 1 month at Fairchild AFB in Washington state while I worked as much overtime as I could handle and smothered our puppy, Bruce. I also got really involved in some home decor projects and crafts and continue to create whenever I get the chance! Expect plenty of updates on my crafting :)

Over a month before Josh was due to return from training, we were asked by Xander's mother if he could come live with us for the year.. We were thrilled by the idea! Josh hadn't lived with Xander since he was only 2 and neither of us thought that we would get him for more than just a summer until he was at least 10.. So we jumped on it! The weeks before he arrived were some of the most stressful for me. It was incredibly difficult getting the documents needed for him to start kindergarten and I was flipping from being stoked to have him here and freaking out about being responsible for a child!  Xander arrived 1 week before Josh came home so I got to experience being a single working mom to a child I had only spent a total of 2 months with ever.. It was an experience!

Now Xander has been here for 2 months and he has settled in nicely. It is a strange feeling to go from just being baby hungry for a few weeks here or there to being a full time mom. Josh has proved to be an incredible father and I try my hardest!
